Glazing System
Material
1. Aluminum extrusions - Alloy 6063, ASTM B21. Paint - meets
AAMA 603.8, PPG polycron 3.0
2. Flashings - 26 gauge, zincalume coated, PVF2 paint or alternate.
3. Gasket - EPDM, .1875 x .6875, 11 ribs to contact glass.
4. Setting blocks - Neoprene, 85 durometer
5. Fastener - C1018 carbon steel, 9-16 shank, 1800 lbs. tensile,
1100 lbs. shear, 56 case hardness (37core), zinc plating
(.0006 min.) and polyvinyl ultraseal coating.
6. Glass - Insulated to 1" overall thickness, various types as
required by code and energy needs.
7. Windows and doors - not produced by Westview Products.
The Westview system accommodates virtually all window
and door
products available. Check window/door specifications
for proper integration with the Westview glazing system.
Testing
1. NFRC 100, Procedure for determining fenestration product
U-factors
• Result - .18 to .33, dependent on glass type and gap fill
2. NFRC 200, Procedure for determining fenestration product
solar heat gain
• Result - .26 to .60, dependent on glass type
3. ASTM E 283-04, Standard test method for determining the rate
of air leakage through exterior windows, curtain walls and
doors under specified differences across the specimen.
• Result - Infiltration less than .01 CFM/ft2 (undetectable) at
1.57 & 6.24 psf
4. ASTM E 547-00 Standard test method for water penetration of
exterior windows, curtain walls and doors by cyclic static air
pressure differential.
• Results - No leakage after 4 cycles of 5 minutes each at
12.00 psf
5. ASTM E 331-00 Standard test method for water penetration of
exterior windows, skylights, doors, and curtain walls by uniform
static air pressure difference.
• Results - No leakage after 1 cycle of 15 minutes each at
12.00 psf
6. Containment of load with broken glass.
• Test - contain 62.5 psf with gripping action on broken .030
laminated 1/4" glass, 38" max. width, 48 hour minimum.
• Result - containment to 186 hours, deflection to 6.875 in.,
minimal edge pull, load release with laminated tear.
